Heating Element Resistance, Voltage and Power: Why These Numbers Matter
Why This Specification Matters
Resistance, voltage and power are three of the most important electrical parameters when purchasing furnace heating elements. They should be treated as part of the product specification rather than as optional information.
What Buyers Should Confirm
For a replacement element, the existing resistance is particularly useful. If the original element model is known, include it together with the measured or documented resistance.
Technical Information for a Correct Quotation
Voltage should be provided because the element must work with the furnace electrical supply and control system. Power information can help the supplier understand the required heating capacity.
Practical Ordering Checklist
A model reference such as DL 16 / 400 / 805 / 2.2 should therefore be accompanied by the actual furnace electrical data whenever possible.
The same principle applies to MoSi₂ heating elements. A dimensional configuration such as RS18 3/6, Le 160, Lu 180 and A 25 describes the geometry, but the quotation should also address the required electrical specification.
Buyers should avoid sending only a desired temperature and asking for a generic heating rod. The furnace's electrical design determines important aspects of element selection.
If you do not know the resistance, take a clear photograph of the furnace nameplate and the old element. The supplier may be able to identify the missing information that needs to be confirmed.
For a quotation, provide voltage, resistance, power if known, quantity and element dimensions. Include the furnace temperature and application as well.
This approach helps suppliers quote a component that is technically aligned with the furnace rather than simply a visually similar product.
